retreive data from a dead laptop

    i would like to retrieve data from an old commodore laptop i purchased in the 1990's that has had a dead battery for several years now. When i go to use the cable the computer does not start up. Can i retrieve the data? Thanks,:confused:

    Yup. You will need to buy a hard disk enclosure, then take out the HD from the laptop and put it in the enclosure. The enclosures generally come USB ready, so you would just hook it up to an existing PC and the computer would treat it as an external drive.

    just make sure you get the correct enclosure; chances are that if the laptop is that old, it will be an IDE connection, not SATA.
