    Can someone please tell me, if they know, what is the command to compile c++ code in Red Hat 9. i tried the one i learned at school, and i tried installing rpms and stuff to get this to work, but i am completely lost.

    Try gcc -c filename.c .I think that will create the object file.
    You might want to read the gcc manpage,also.
