Most of the time when I try to use my right mouse button ( for example, right clicking on an icon, photograph, file name) will freeze up the system and it will become un-responsive right away.

If I am doing a word doc, I can right click for spell check and that works fine, or right click the start menu.

I have a Dell computer running XP service pack 3 with a pent D 2.33Ghz and 1 G memory.

I tried renaming Normal.dotm, as someone had suggested, but it made no difference.

Any Ideas?

That did not help, I ran the Malware program it came up clean, Ran the defrag and re booted but the problem was still there.

I have not tried running the repair on the XP install disk, do you think that might help?

Yes, I did and have not had a chance to try that as yet, I read it over and I'm a little afraid to edit the registry. I am going to look at it tomorrow and see what it looks like, it is actually my neighbors computer. I don't want to mess his computer up any more than it is.

Joan,

I ran the ShellExView program, but I'm not sure what I am looking for in the list. I should say that it sometimes locks up on left clicks as well. Like trying to attach a file in E-mail.

I got a big report but don't quite know what I am looking for.

What now?

Thanks for the help, I went nto the site and it explained things very well.

I did as the site said and it turns out the the context menu for my Seagate Replica is the one that is messing with my mouse. I don't want to un-install it until I can find out from Seagate if it will erase all my data when I re-install it.

What happens if I just leave it disabled?

Thanks for all your help
