I need a 30m Cat5e cable. It must be white and preferably with minimal writing on it. Any suggestions?

I have no idea what computer stores you have in England or what online stores you have over there. Most computer stores should have what you are looking for. Why does it have to be white?

Radio Shack used to have plain white CAT5 cable, though I have no idea if they're in the UK.

Thanks johnwill, will check it out.
The only seller I've been able to find online are Belkin (to much writing on the cable). Not many people sell 30m cables in white.

The cable must be white to go with my interior decorating.

Run it under some white molding. That is how we do it in the I.T. world. The schools I work at are all made of concrete block. If we need to run a new wire into the room we certainly dont want it exposed for the students to yank on it. I am not sure what the molding is called.

Most cables the "Writing" is just a form of ink and it will wipe off with many cleaning fluids or maybe alcohol.

You must really be into decorating to get down to that level of detail. In a pinch can paint or stain it or color it somehow.

The surface molding for installing wiring goes by all sorts of names.

Surface molding, raceways, wire channel, tunnel organizer, wire guards, etc. Many shapes and sizes and colors. But I don't know if it comes in ANSI 2798 Eggshell Off White with low gloss. :D

Thanks for the idea but he doesnt want molding either.
I'm trying to remove the writing from a cable right now and it's pretty impossible.

Another idea is knit or sew the cable a nice little sweater or whatever you call things a cable might wear. Cable sleeve thingee(s) maybe. Sort of along the idea of Window Dressings.

Then you can control the color completely along with the texture and feel of the cable. Might just be the hot new craze with the deco crowd in computing.

H,mmm I am getting warmed up on the ideas here.

You can also spiral wrap it with ribbon or fabric. Maybe cover with a adhesive tape lengthwise. String something like beads on it. I think one just has to let their better deco sensibilities go for a tasteful solution.

Pure white silk might be nice if you can get it to form fit.

You really dont want to be twisting that cable too much.

Is it not possible to run the wire thru the walls?

Yes, but Wireless is "Clear" and will not blend with the sofa.

    This is all about "Balance".
