Hi - My PC sounds like it is under a load even if I am doing nothing. I did a hard boot, then started Outlook and FF - shifted into second gear. It is like I am watching three videos all at one (which I have done, but not right now). I took it apart and did a thorough cleaning - made sure there were no viruses, I use McAfee but I did a free trial of AVG - no help. It sounds like a freight train all the time, unless I turn it off. Any ideas?

This could also be down to a worn out fan. I had one go on my own PC and the noise was unbearable. If a hard drive is making a lot of noise I would expect it to be constant, fans change speed so I suspect that is more likely as you have heard the noise increase when the system is put under more of a load.

Leave the side off the case and see if you can tell what piece of hardware the noise is coming from.
