i'm using the rogers mobile internet stick on my desktop cause i live in a black hole cut off from normal high speed connections. but i can't get my xbox live to find the network i'm on.. how do i do this?
it depends on how you are set up. If you are using the wireless connection to the internet, then you will need to set up Internet Connnection Service (ICS) to allow your PC to share the internet.
how does one do that? i was talking to a friend today and he said that i need a router but it still might be a problem because i don't have a high speed modem
btw ICS = internet connection sharing, that is my fault - had a brain fart then
You are correct, you can't use a router with that setup since you don't have a broadband modem. I assume you have an ethernet connection available on your computer so what you would need to do is:
Connect the xbox via the ethernet port. I believe you will need a cross-over cable, but I may be wrong and need a straight through.
What ICS does is turns your computer into 'a router' by setting up your internet connection for other machines.
Note that ICS in the past can be a pain in the behind so be prepared for some connection issues, as you are using the mobile connection, speeds may not be sufficient enough to use xbox live.
well see, unfortunately i have a dial-up modem so using an ethernet cable is kinda pointless . I'm getting a 3G fido connection with the rogers stick (usually get a 1-2 megabytes when the weathers good), so hopefully that wont be a problem.
Good luck  let us know if you need any more help.
