DDS logs. Gmer won't run. Tried running as administrator etc...seemed to run a quick scan, then lets me hit "scan" and then I can see it ripping through directories etc...then it freezes in different spots. My son has a ton of things in the system tray, and I can't help but think something is running in the background. Thanks.

nothinmg obvious showing there
exactly what problems is he still having
are there any diverts or pop ups or strange results on a google search etc

You already know that AVG 8 is out of date and about as much use as a chocolate fireguard
If you are intending to stick with AVG then update it or uninstall it & use an alternative as discussed in your other thread

Nothing crazy going on. Some windows coming up saying Windows is blocking some programs from running, a few that say something about Apple Sync-something..not sure...these didn't pop up before running Mbam the other day. I may try AVG10 on my son's machine(this one) and try MSE on my oldie. He has Windows Defender on his machine , should I use that along w/ AVG? I'll clear System Restore and make a new restore point. Then upgrade the AVG, Windows Defender and work on his user levels. I think he has auto updates on for Windows. Java is now screaming about updates too. I haven't run an online scan at Secunia yet...will do that also. Please advise and thanks

AVG10 also seems to bear down hard on this system as well.
Also, I can't figure out what's going on with the "whole computer" scans. Sometimes it takes 9 minutes, other times a half hour. Tried running as an Admin and normally ( double-click the icon ) and the times change. The summary below was from a scan that took a half hour.

"Scan ""Whole computer scan"" completed."
"Infections";"1";"1";"0"
"Warnings";"3";"3";"0"
"Folders selected for scanning:";"Whole computer scan"
"Scan started:";"Sunday, January 09, 2011, 3:11:50 PM"
"Scan finished:";"Sunday, January 09, 2011, 4:16:22 PM (1 hour(s) 4 minute(s) 32 second(s))"
"Total object scanned:";"1697023"
"User who launched the scan:";"Dixie"

"Infections"
"";"File";"Infection";"Result"
"";"C:\Users\Dixie\Documents\Limewire\Saved\Telelphone live.mov";"Trojan horse Downloader.Generic_c.BOM";"Moved to Virus Vault"

"Warnings"
"";"File";"Infection";"Result"
"";"C:\Users\Dixie\AppData\Local\temp\SkypeSetup.exe";"Corrupted executable file";"Moved to Virus Vault"
"";"C:\Users\Dixie\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\L81QODLL\SkypeSetupFull[1].exe";"Corrupted executable file";"Moved to Virus Vault"
"";"C:\Users\Dixie\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\IVG1X039\SkypeSetupFull[1].exe";"Corrupted executable file";"Moved to Virus Vault"

I also brought Windows Defender up to speed, it came up with the following:
C:\Users\Dixie\AppData\Local\Temp\uglcapod.sys as an undesireable. The log says I permitted it to run??

this was probably gmer attempting to run
C:\Users\Dixie\AppData\Local\Temp\uglcapod.sys

Download Temp File Cleaner to your desktop
Open the file and close any other windows.
It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job
Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

If you are using Vista or Windows 7 then right click the TFC.exe & select run as Admin to allow it to work.

Ran TFC it deleted 1.3GB of temp files. Not sure what I'm seeing, but TFC shows a few different "Users" on the system:

User: All Users
User: Default
User: Default User
User: Dixie ( our old dog's name )
User: Guest

Are all these supposed to exist? Did my son create these? Is there a way to see what each is? Maybe these questions are for the XP forum.

I guess the real question is, do you think the system is clean? Thanks.

Thanks for all your help. After using the system for a while, AVG10 doesn't really seem to slow my son's newer PC down at any noticeable level. Marking solved.
