Rootkit Hidden Driver

Hi

I ran an AVG 2015 scan and it found a Rootkit hidden driver which it said it couldn't remove. I uninstalled a couple of programmes and ran the scan again. This time it didn't find the threat. Does that mean it has gone or would an antivirus scan not advise on the same threat twice? It is still showing in the log on the first scan as still being there.

May Thanks

Hello Abbi2014,

Welcome to TSG.

Let's have a look and see what we can find. :)

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from here and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please also paste that into your reply.
