Hi all! Yesterday, I installed a system update on my laptop and since then I have not been able to connect to the internet but I can connect to the network. My phone/PS3/other computer have no connectivity issues at all. It also does not matter whether I'm using a wired or wireless network connection. I have read several similar posts on this website but can't seem to find an answer.

My computer is a Sony VAIO PCG-7173L. My router/modem combo is a Zoom 5350.

When I diagnose the connection I get the error, "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server(68.105.28.12)' and a suggestion to reset the network adapter. After resetting the network adapter, I get the error, "Windows tried a repair but a problem still exists. There might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer."

I have the feeling that something has happened to my drivers but I am not sure how to update them without access to the internet.

I'm hoping that someone has some advice.

Thank you!

What security applications (firewall, security suite, anti-virus, etc.)?

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or 7.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.
