Hello everyone, I had a question about connection speed and how its divided between your home devices. Now I know a speed test tells you how fast your network speed is but no speed test will tell how many mbp a single device is getting. So right now I have 26 Mbp and four devices connected how would it get divided ? And is there a way to test the speed of a single device ?
When you run a speedtest, you run it on a device. You can run the same test connected by wire and also wireless and may get different results because wired is usually faster than wireless.
This will give the current download and upload speeds the that device.
Code:
http://www.speedtest.net/
Run the test on all 4 devices and you'll see what each is pulling.
Thanks but that site uses Ookla as a speed test and that comes up the Same on every device its only showing what my network is putting out, not how much Mbp my device is getting. Your router will divied the Mbp to each device. If you ask your ISP they will tell you the same. Most I can do is set one device as priority for Mbp but I still don't know how many Mbp its getting.
Your router doesn't statically or equally divide up the bandwidth between devices, devices can use as much as there is available. That's why you are getting the same results on each computer. A single computer could hog all the bandwidth if it wanted too.
