What is the brand and model of the cable modem?

Reset the router to factory default settings. Unplug the modem and router and shut down computer.

Connect modem to router's WAN port. Connect computer to a router LAN port.

Plug in modem. Plug in router. Boot computer. You should now have internet access and can configure the router's password, wireless, etc., as desired.

I reset the router and modem and am now trying to set up the router using routerlogin.net. I'm trying to locate the static ip and DNS. (This is where I have been getting stuck)

You have internet access through the router now, right?

I don't know what you mean by "trying to locate the static ip and DNS."

No just the modem right now, the router wont connect, ie. internet light is yellow not green and no access is granted. When setting up the routers wireless network using the setup wizard (on routerlogin.net) it scans and says static ip detected and asks to input the ip address info and dns addresses. Sorry for confusing you there.

That modem probably has a battery. If so you need to use the reset button instead of power cycling when switching the device connected to it.

If the modem also has a USB port make sure nothing is connected to that when trying to use the ethernet.

I have no idea what the setup wizard is trying to do.

The Arris TM602G is a eMTA. It has a battery inside to keep the phone lines working (if your phone is through your internet provider) in an event of a power outage.

With that said this modem is used with cable internet providers, which uses DHCP not static IP. Your router is either malfunctioned or set to use PPPoE or something similar. A factory reset (holding in the reset button for about 30 seconds) should have reset any configuration in the router back to original settings.

If you still don't have internet access reset the router to factory default settings again and please show the following for a connection directly to the modem and for a connection to the router.

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Who is your provider? Some reason they are using GoogleDNS... makes no sense.

The PC does have an apparent wireless connection to the router, but the "Media disconnected" for the ethernet implies a defective cable. Even so, you should be able to access the router via Wi-Fi and check the WAN (Internet) status and maybe some logs to try to get a hint of what's wrong.
