i am running windows XP as of now and want to switch over to windows 7.
is it possible to install windows 7 on a portable hard disk and keep the currently running xp as well so that i could insert the hard disk and change the boot sequence so that if the portable media is present, it runs 7 and when not present then it reads through the computers hard disk to boot the already installed xp.
    hoping for a reply soon
    thanks

Your PC may not have the ability to do that and it is better to install W7 as a dual boot on internal Hard drive.....

It would be best if you have XP on one Hard drive and W7 on another.
