Hello,
I’m looking to purchase this combination to add media files to it and then use this combination to play the media files on a media box i.e something like a Sumvision media player. Internal SSD’s are cheaper.

Will this work or is this cable meant purely for file transfers or saving boot ups for example.

Thank you.

You can use any 2.5" USB 3.0/3.1 enclosure or adapter with an SSD as long as the USB cable matches the media player's port. Question is do you really need to use an SSD to store media files? The media player will not benefit from having the media stored on an SSD.

Thank you for your reply.
The media player is merely a medium to play 4K videos on my 4K tv. No storage is kept on the player. I believe SSD’s handle large mkv files better.

I don't see why they would handle a media file better than an HDD. They are are more physically durable though and faster.
