I'm running XP and I need to restart my system in safe mode, but evertime i try run safe mode it freezes on certain drivers.

First it froze on agp440.sys and now it is freezing up on mup.sys

What do I do to fix this?

Try this: Boot from your XP disk into Recovery Console and run CHKDSK.
Reboot and see if it is fixed.

I've tried doing a normal check disc where you go into the C: drive and run it...is that check disc different?

When you ran it, did it complete and were you then able to get into Safe Mode?

When a computer freezes at MUP.sys it is actually freezing when the next item tries to load.
In this case I think it is the AGP440.sys causing the issue.

Start > Run > type "msconfig"
under the "BOOT.INI" tab, put a check in the "/SAFEBOOT" box. Save, exit with reboot. See if that lets you into safe mode.
