Salt air and hard drives

HI,
I live right on the ocean. I know the salt in the air plays havock with my computer but can it effect the hard drive itself? I thought that was hermetically sealed.

Any assistance appreciated

Yes, it's sealed to prevent foreing object(dusts) to come in.
However, that's only the data part(platters, heads and actuator arms, etc) and other parts are exposed to outside air.
