my wifes comp here as the same problem, she was running a scan last night and stuff kept showing up even though the program ( AVG) kept saying it was deleting them. One of the files as adir.dll and I looked up the file to see if there was anything about it. Found several referances to it and one suggested using a program SDfix, DLed it ran it in safe mode and it got rid of it, but then this maindll.dll started showing up. Did a search on it and I pulled up you site here which was very nice and detailed on handleing. We went through the instructions ( except that one that was specifically for the other person) and I am including a list here. I went through the other persons info to identify what it was that was associated with that file and then ran that test on it at the site Jotti and have included it here as well. due to the similarity I am inclined to go ahead with your instructions to the other person but with a change to the script to read

    Files to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\kafa.dll

However, I dont want any looks from my wife :) so I will wait until I hear a response here to go ahead with it, or that im wrong and need to do anything differant.

Thanks in advance for any help :), below are the logs.

    Hi Welcome to TSG!!

I've moved you to a thread of your own so please reply here.

Click Start - Run - and type in:

    services.msc

    Click OK.

    In the services window find:

    DCOM Server 60787

Right click and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK.
    Exit the Services utility.

Note: You may get an error here when trying to access the properties of the service. If you do get an error, just select the service and look there in the top left of the main service window and click "Stop" to stop the service. If that gives an error or it is already stopped, just skip this step and proceed with the rest.

    Download the KillBox

Save the file to your desktop.

    Run KillBox.exe.

Select the Delete on Reboot option.

In the Full Path of File to Delete field copy and paste the following bolded entrie.
Click the red circle with the white X in it,
When it asks if you want to delete the file on reboot click Yes.
When it asks you to reboot, click No.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\kafa.dll

    Close Killbox.
Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Reboot to safe mode and empty the C:\Documents and Settings\DEFAULT\Local Settings\Temp folder.

Restart in normal mode and post your log again.
