I'm a complete novice with computers and I wonder if someone can help me.

I have Windows 98. All was ok until I loaded on Worksuite 2000. Now the Scandisc won't work (it keeps alternating between checking files and file allocation) and when I try to defrag nothing happens.

I tried shutting everything down on the system except Explorer (using clt-alt-delete and end task) but it would still not work.

    Can any one help?

Run in safe mode - keep tapping f8 when the system starts booting.

Thanks - Scandisc worked in Safe Mode and it said that there were no errors. However Defrag just hung at 0% completed. Lights were flashing on the box but nothing seemed to be happening.

    Any suggestions any one?
