i have been told inorder to scandisk and defrag much quicker, i should close all running programs (except explorer and systray by pressing ctrl/alt/del). say, i did that, now how do i restore those closed programs back into running programs again?

    Just reboot.

    There's a program that simplifies this task: <A HREF="http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,s%253D400%2526a%253D10165,00.asp">EndItAll 2</A>

    Good luck,

Are you usingWin98? You might want to d/l WinME defrag. and use it instead. Don't have to shut the prog. down. No more "three finger salutes." Probably still have to close ss. Ron
