Tried to install a Memorex 6142u scanner to my HP computer with Windows XP O/S according to directions supplied. All connections checked and re-checked. Software installed, de-installed, and re-installed several times. Keep geting this notice: Scanner not found. Please check the following: (1) Power adapter is plugged in the scanner connector. (2) USB cable is properly connected with the scanner & PC. (3) USB setting is enable in BIOS. I've checked # 1 & # 2, but don't know how to check # 3. ANy help will be appreciated.

try or borrow some other usb device to plug in and see if it's found by Windows

when the computer is first starting, look at the screen for a message which reads "Press X to Enter Setup"

where "X" is which key you need to press to enter the setup program of your BIOS,
then your going to have to look around in there to find the USB section, enable it, Save and Exit
