Should i be worried if my external USB2 Lacie 250GB hard disk is very hot to touch? After a few hours of being on it get really hot (could probably cook eggs on the thing lol) and i was wondering if this is normal? Is it worth considering buying some sort of external fan for it?

    Thanks.

Specifications say operating temperature is up to 55°C (131°F)

I think it'll be alright as long as you don't choke it with sheets, dust, carpet, clothes, books. etc etc. If not, then you have yourself a free breakfast cooker.

You might consider actually measuring the temperature in the case with a simple thermal probe. If it's "really" too hot to touch, that's too hot.
