Hello, friends. I'm in a big documentation phase for some Ware of the Soft variety I've been fabriculating, and am tired of browsing cnet looking for a good screen-capture freeware. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I need to be able to
  1. quickly grab windows, pieces of windows, and separate objects (command buttons, pop-ups, etc.
  2. not have Windows 2k crash (lots of the "Windows 2k compatible" stuff I've tested is not)
  3. quickly browse and choose the images to save, or batch save
  4. (this is an ideal, not a need) grab the text out of pop-up boxes
You are all, as usual, the Best.

I've done lots of documentation, and ALT+PRINT SCREEN has always worked for me. You can crop and resize in Word if you need to.

What special features does other software have?

With Alt-print screen, you lose a menu you might want to capture. With Snagit, you don't.

You can save as just about any kind of graphic immediately.
