I just went through a very basic flash tutorial on how to make a scrolling text window. And it works, so im pleased. But the style of the window does not go with my page scheme at all, and i would also like some transparency with the window.

here is the tutorial i followed. http://www.developingwebs.net/flash/mx_scrollingtextboxes.php
im using flash, dreamweaver, and fireworks (all mx versions). when i publish the movie, i see where you can alter the windows alpha to transparent or opaque but this doesnt seem to do anything.

    thanks for help

You have to set the alpha of your movie clip you added to the scroll area.
