Hi all and Happy New Years!

Well 2006 has gotten off to a bad start!

I think a Virus, Trojan or some other nasty, has locked me out of my computer.

I believe it is called "SDOM" or atleast it showed that name on my HD.
I also saw this as a drive C: label, "S_ _ :)" (smiley face). The face was a circle and it was not on the side.

Here's some of the messages, I get when attempting to access drive C:

    Normal/ Safe Mode/ Command Prompt/ Command Safe mode -
"Type name of the Command Interpreter ie - C:\windows\command.com"

    Using a start-up disk - I get this Message -

"Your Previous MS Dos files were not found - Start-up Failed"
"This Chipset isn't supported due to missing datasheet"

When I view the partitions, I see -

    (1) Mbr _ Master boot Rec
    (2) Pri _ Dos Fat-16
    (3) Pri 1 (blank)
    (4) Pri _ Dos Fat-16

I believe there should only be one partition.

Can someone help me restore my system.
Registry was the first to go.
Windows system files was 2nd (I don't see them)
MS Dos is alleged to be missing too!

How can I access, "HWsetup" (can't find it), to setup CD rom boot,
    to install or reinstall windows?

How do I remove the virus?

I hope someone can help me!

Well I guess no one who has read this thread has encountered this.
Or maybe my explaination is off?

Well what it did was rename files, changed them to long files.
I got chdsk in and it renamed them again.

Now I need to get some sort of boot up structure in.

Well I hope a little more info. will help me get some answers.
    Thank you for your time!

if you can get boot an msdos based disk, and manage to get to the command prompt. type this:

    (if booting from floppy A:)
    SYS A: C:

I am assuming C: is your normal hard drive partition that is already formatted as FAT32 and that you booted from the A: Drive..Hope this helps
