I am trying to repair it myself and was wondering if anyone could advise me out to dissasemble it. There is a small, 16th of an inch bolt aside from the 4 t6 screws that I need to get off. How do I do it? needle nose pliers?

What problem are you having with the drive? It's a precision piece of hardware assembled in a clean room. You can't just crack it open and mess around with it. It will never work properly again.

You can't fix that. If the drive is under warranty, get it replaced. Otherwise, time for a new drive.

It doesn't need to come off if it's the bolt I'm thinking it is.

But once you open it you will have introduced dust and moisture into the drive damaging it even further not that there's anything in there you could simple fix anyway. A 3TB drive would have warranty on it, why aren't you interested in getting it replaced under the warranty?

There is nothing repairable or serviceable inside a sealed hard disk.

Once it is open the disk is gone.

Did they know what they were doing or just blindly doing something they and posting videos on Youtube? Anyone can take a drive apart and post something on Youtube, doesn't mean it worked or that it should be done.

After a hard disk has died, say by dust particles interfering with the read/write head, one can get a kick out off of it by opening it up.

Modern hard disk has the electronic circuit board always on the outside. The inside is rotating mechanism of the best balance grade.

So the key to my statement was that they knew what they were doing, these guys are morons but feel free to do that same thing.

I assume you didn't watch the video until the very end where that state it was a joke.

    The Good Guy,

I thought those guys in the video were morons. (because they put finger print on the platter, pour water onto it, rub it with tissues etc)

If you really didn't watch it all the way through but post it in the internet then you beat them.

And those aren't real either. You cannot repair a hard drive in your kitchen with a bunch of hand tools. Just because someone doesn't say "It's a joke" in their YouTube video doesn't mean it's the God's-honest truth.
