My 2tb hard drive was working fine for about 3 months before it stopped working. I have files inside files, so the main ones show up, but i can't open them to access anything inside. It says "failed to format" every time i try and I can't manually delete them. I thought it was a virus but I'm not tech savvy and I'd like to recover the files because there's a lot, but it's not a priority at this point, i'll take what i can get. My computer is a Asus Chromebook C201P. Help?

this doesn't sound like a virus issue so moved to hardware

How old is that 2 TB hard drive? Have you tried connecting it to a different computer?

One possibility is that it failed on you.
You can search online for a Data recovery center. If you bring your drive to them, they might be able to recover most of the files stored in the hard drive

It's brand new I've had it about 3 months. I didn't want to take it to anyone cuz most people charge an arm and a leg. I might as well buy a new one but I'm not really into that idea
