When I open IE 5.5 it always pops open the search bar on left side of the browser. How do I get rid of this?

You can get rid of this 2 ways. On your toolbar with the icons of back, forward, home and so forth there is a "magnify glass", make sure that is pushed, also in the view menu under "explorer bar" make sure "search" is not checked.

    Hope this helps.

Cool that fixed it. But the magnifying glass says " Print Review"... What does that mean ?

    Outatime,
That probably says "Print Preview". This was a feature that was added to IE5.5 It allows you to "Print Preview" a page in Internet Explorer before you send it to the printer. Really nice feature to use.

Sounds cool. So what does a Print Preview have to do with the search box coming up ?

there are 2 magnifying glasses on the tool bar, a big one for search and a small one with a paper background for print preview.

Well I got rid of the one with Print Review on it and the search bar doesn't come up anymore, so who knows. :)
