search function

My search function has disappeared. You know, where the little dog is and where you put in a files name and the computer searches for the file...the dog is there, but nothing else is. I need this desperately...

I hit F3 and the search area SHIVERED but that was all. Anyone else have any other suggestions...oh by the way, now the dog has dissapeared! sheeesh

Depending on your version of TweakUI, run it, go to the Desktop settings and put the check mark back in Search Results.

And from Kelly's site:

"Search - Doesn't Work

Open Explorer and go to the Windows\Inf folder. Locate the srchasst.inf file. Right click it and select Install. You'll need your XP CD or the files from the I386 folder."

The Windows\Inf folder is a hidden folder. You can adjust your Explorer Folder Options (View tab) to Show hidden files and folders."

You can also click Start, Run, enter inf and click OK to open the folder in Windows Explorer
