When I'm in a specific folder and try to retrieve a file using the "search" option, the file is not recognized. I can scroll down the list of files and view/open the file; however, I can't search for them. For some reason, it will SOMETIMES (with no seeming rhyme/reason) pull files with similar letters/numbers from years ago, but not the most recent. Please help.

Update....I've discovered this is only happening with Excel files. Any suggestions?

In addition to the above solution offered, there is also a chance that your disk is also corrupted. Doesn't hurt to check. Right click on Drive C, choose Properties > Tools tab. Click the Check button.
