So I got rid of a Trojan, by deleting Internet Explorer, complete and totally from my computer, but now another virus has come, and this one is a worm.

Heres a copy of the stupid bubble:
    Security Alert: NetWorm-i. [email protected]
    Type: Virus/Network Worm
    Damage Level: High
Description: Virus that infects executable files.
    Reccomendation:
    Delete/quarantine immedeatly.
Protection: Click this balloon to download certified antivirus software.

I really have no idea what do, so any help would be appreciated.

Let's have you post a log from Hijackthis and maybe we can spot anything out of place:
go to Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
    • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then save the log and then the log will open in Notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi, Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
(You do that by clicking the .zip folder on the desktop, and select "Extract All" in the wizard window, use the Browse button, and change whatever shows as the location to unzip TO, to "Desktop", and click OK, uncheck "Show Extracted Files" first.
Find the newly created SmitFraudFix folder....
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi, Then you aren't doing it right-

[edit= delete any other SmitFraudFix folder (not the downloaded .zip folder, just any others]

    then:
Try again, the .zip folder SmitFraudFix on the desktop, the original one you downloaded...right click on that, a wizard window should come up- click "Next"

select "Extract All" and change the location to put the files TO the Desktop in the Destination box line....then, you will see the new SmitFraudFix folder, double click that to Open and in there are a bunch of files...

find smitfraudfix.cmd and double click on that to start the tool.

Let it run- when prompted, hit the 1 key and then Enter. it will scan and then produce a log. That's what I need to see.

A copy also will be found at C:\rapport so go there and copy and paste the contents if you cannot find the log.

I know! Now do the second part of the fix:

Copy these steps to a Notepad text file and save it as steps.txt to your desktop, or print them, as you will not be able to get online while working in Safe Mode (and, please do
not use Safe Mode with Networking for this fix!)

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

    Post that log please.

Also post a new HJT log.

WHOA THERE it's not running from the desktop...

Try again- there will be a new SmitFraud Fix yellow folder on the desktop---you open it, and then click smitfraudfix.cmd you do not
put any of the files anywhere....from that folder.

The picture is just what is inside the folder.

Hi, Is there a problem....you should be not online if you are going to finish SmitFraudfix now.

The steps are already posted, just go back to my reply with the second part steps in it and ShutDown> boot to Safe Mode etc.

You should have a copy of the directions, so as it says, please copy and paste the text to a Notepad file and save it onto your desktop.

    Or, print them.

I will be leaving shortly and there are no other helpers that can work with these issues online.

OK- What I need is the HJT log, from Normal Mode of Windows, not Safe Mode.

The end of my directions told you this:

""The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

Also post a new HJT log.""

Just post the Hijackthis log from normal mode please....
