I am finally up and running on my newly formatted hard drive. After several problems getting a modem driver, ISP software etc. I am typing to you now on my desktop.

Since this is a fresh computer and OS now, what are some things I should do as far as IE is concerned. Anything that you have done to allow better running, plus anything you have done to avoid the clutter of files etc.

Are there any settings I should check that may need to be changed from the default upon installation of Windows?

Would it be in my interest to download IE 6.0? The version I have running is 4.0 upon reinstallation of Win 98.

I used a Win 98 Upgrade CD to reinstall Windows. Since the time that the CD was out, are there any critical updates that I may need to get?

Yes I would do the window upgrade. Go to start, settings and click on windows update.

Then go to my site and clean the hard drive to clean out all install files not needed and then run defrag.

To clean the hard drive follow the instructions followed by the 3 red * in the index of the following site. Also on the site on different pages you might see some ideas you might want to try. I have a lot of tweaks listed.

If you are interested in Security Setting in IE, go to www.pcpitstop.com and run a complete check of your system. It will determine if your computer is secure and if not, it will tell you what needs to be done to make it secure and in most cases perform the tasks for you.
