Hi

I'd like to be able to see all the files on my android phone from my macbook and copy or transfer them selectively.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7.
My MacBook runs High Sierra 10.13.6
I used to use Kies to backup to Windows and it worked well..until it stopped working.
I then used Smartswitch for mac and that worked fine - now it doesn't. It downloads wholesale though, and I have too many photos to transfer - I'd like to do it bit by bit.
I have tried Android File Transfer which doesn't see my phone (yes, I've done the allow debugging and the correct transfer mode is on)

It seems such a simple ask...but...?

I don't want to use the cloud - don't trust that thing!

Many thanks.

It will be much easier for you to use cloud, especially as it has some software that helps you to protect your data and feel secured.

Unfortunately I can't help you with anything Apple. The last time I touched anything from Apple was in 1989!

I simply plug in my Samsung phone using the charging cable and open Windows Explorer. I've been transferring things off my phone and onto the computer that way for more than a year with no problem.

The only app I saw is the one you tried and it didn't work: Android File transfer.

So I ended up dispensing with the cable and using Airdroid to backup over the wifi network. Works a treat - you can see your files transparently on both devices and transfer them easily. Another job done.

Thank you. I eventually found Airmore, which seems to be successful and more intuitive.
