The last two pc's have died (dead mb's) in about two years, requiring replacements. (eMachine & Lenovo)

Can someone please recommend a more durable pc brand that my office can purchase from Best Buy or Fry's Electronics?

What is the avg life expectancy of a low end desktop?

Thanks very much!!!!

low end machines will tend to use low end quality components
i would try some of the business machines - from Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo should be OK
other makes like HP , Fujitsu are all good

do you want windows 8 or 7 - Dell & Fujitsu have windows 7 machines available in UK - as i have some coming this week for clients to replace their XP PCs

how long do the desktops last,
whats the environment they are in like, very dusty , do the machines have good cooling / ventilation around them ?

you may have just been unlucky - machines do fail in first few years, hence some of the warranty deals.

personally , i think all the major manufacturers are OK , some bring out a duff model once in a while and also go through phases of poor service

I have various models across the family laptops mainly now for the last 10 years and only one failed ACER and was quickly repaired under warranty
the rest tend to get replaced, simply because needs change

Thinking of just getting a chromebook to replace this one as it was my wife's pc, and she only uses it for facebook and email. What do you think of that? I've been thinking and I figure if it's going to die, might as well get something like that.
