Hi, AOL email never did work with Outlook Express, I am not sure about Microsoft Outlook that comes with Office, if that is the Outlook you are meaning....

AOL users could not send mail nor get mail through OE, at least back a few years ago they could not, and if AOL was the service provider....there were some utilities that claimed to circumvent this, but I have not used them, and it seemed difficult to install and set these up, I did not bother with it at all.
(Things might be different with AOL mail these days.)
If you typed up a new mail in OE, and tried to send it, you would get an error message...of course, since there usually would have not been any account set up for POP3 mail in or out, no servers to connect to, and since AOL used different types of mail service, no way to get mail into OE.

Getting a Gmail account, free, might be a quicker solution, Gmail is simply great.

You should check out this: Description of Google's Gmail, how it works, privacy, etc...

You do still I think have to be invited to Gmail, so if you know someone who has it, they should have invitations to spare...if you want to try it, let us know, I have invitations.
