in outlook try contacts ctrl shift L and then pick contacts to add to your distribution list. Another way is with your contacts window open click file and then new and then distribution list. I have outlook 2000 and am assuming they are the same.

    I think this is it.

In Outlook make sure you are in your INBOX.
Go to File New Distribution List. Click.
Give your distribution list a name THAT YOU CAN REMEMBER!
    Click on Select Members
EITHER type in part of the individual's last name or scroll down until you find your name.
    Click on ADD.
    Continue with the process.
Continue until you have finished creating your list. (add yourself to the list to get a
    copy.)
Click on Save and close. You did it!
To check your work go to your INBOX click on the Address Book Icon and scroll down until
    you find your distribution list.
