So, I have this site (warning. it's political) at http://theamericansentinel.com

And what happens is that the search engines just look at the front page and not at the post pages. This means that if someone is searching for an article title, for instance, in Google, they just go to a record of the front page when that article was on it instead of actually going to the post. In fact, Google doesn't seem to be capturing the posts at all.

I tried the all-in-one SEO and then took it off, no luck either way. I've fiddled with the sitemaps but so far haven't had any success. Has anyone with a blog ever had problems getting the search engines to look at their post pages instead of just the home page?

    Thanks

    Hey,

Unfortunately it's often not that simple with search engines. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is big business.

Looking at your site, you have SE friendly URLs being used so that's fine - it might be simply that google has decided (at the moment at least) not to index all of your site.

You can do the following search string in google (and indeed other SEs) to see what pages are indexed by them to get a better idea of that's indexed and what's not.

    site:http://theamericansentinel.com

Also be careful of trying to force a website / web pages into search engines by using lots of methods all the time - this can suggest to the SE that you're spamming them and they'll simply ignore you.

    hope that helps, somehow!
    amx
