Serial Mouse Port Problem

    I have and old custom built computer, it has an TX PRO MOBO installed in it and i recently started having trouble with my serial mouse. i have tried pulling the port cable and installing a new one and still dosent work, i dont know what else to do, Please Help.

    P.S. I even bought a new mouse

    TX PRO AT Style MOBO
    Pentium 233 MHz
    64 MB RAM
    8Gb Harddrive
    Windows XP Home

    Its possible that the computer is just too old to run XP well. I would go to windows 98 with the hardware you have listed. What kind of problems are you having? Check that com1 is enabled in the systems bios and that it isn't conflicting with the modem or any other hardware.

    the mouse is com one on the motherboard cables
