Server Confusion

    Trying to track down something that is apparently occurring on our work network...

    When someone says that you are connecting to an "old server" at work to run a program what does that mean? How does one connect to an "old server", is it something that can happen by accident? Do servers track both websites and programs, and if so would the entire website name come up?
