I tried downloading service pack 2 and it messed up my computer and it takes a while to get onto it and the internet is slow. I can only use it in safe mode. Please tell me what to do, besides reboot the computer, for I have done that 2 times already.

Scan it for Virus / Spyware

    Use Ad-aware and Spybots

    Likely cause.

I'm pretty sure it's not a virus, since it was one of those automatic updates. I've recently wiped the computer and I haven't been to any odd sites or clicked on any advertisements, so I'm not convinced that there is a virus on it. Maybe I have to download it using a CD? Anyway, I'll give it a try. What is a HijackThis log? Are you talking about the log that it gives you on superantispyware when you do a complete scan? *confused*

Wow, I did find 90+ Adware. Tracking cookies....whatever that is... and to add on to my description of what happened when I downloaded SP2: The taskbar disappeared after restarting it once or twice. Weird stuff...

No, a HJT is a program that helps to detect whether you have spyware, viruses, malware, trojan's etc.
You'll need to post the log here and you need to download HiJackThis, open the program and do a system scan and save the log, the notepad will open and you'll see tons of registry codes and programs. Post every from the notepad. Then we can help you.

You'll need to download HJT, just google it.
