Welcome to TSG.....

With out knowing what or anything about the computer it is kind of difficuklt to help with this except to say it looks like whatever update you are trying to install is not for whatever version of Windows you have.

Some system specs and a little bit of info about what is going on would be helpful here?

In order to help you, the people here will need a lot more information.

Like:

1. When does that message pop up?? I'm assuming it's after you download an update, and before it tries to install, but let us know for sure.

2. Are you downloading updates manually from the Windows Update site, or are you just getting automatic updates via the Security Center??

3. What version of the OS do you have??

4. How was it installed - i.e. did it come preinstalled on the machine when you bought it, or was it an install you did yourself??

5. Do you have the OS CD???

6. When was the OS installed??

There may be more info needed before anybody can help you, but this would be a good start.

So you're going to the windows update site, clicking 'scan for updates', and doing the express install?

This was what you posted for the specs and now you post

find out...my OS is---

Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 1

I am getting confused. Like was said we are going to need some system specs and correct ones at that.

Also where did you get the service pack that you downloaded and is it service pack 2?

How large was the file?
