I have an ASUS A7V600-X motherboard and a AMD Athlon XP 2900+ CPU 400 FSB Barton Core and 1GB of DDR pc3200. This is my second computer build. I now know that I am underclocking and my multiplier is 10. I should be able to correct the clock in my Bios but when I enter my Bios I get the option to upgrade the Bios from a floppy. I don't want to do that just correct the clock. What am I doing wrong? In System Properties it states AMD Athlon (TM) XP, 995MHz, 1.00 GB of Ram. That tells me I'm underclocking, right??

You should have an option in the bios to set your FSB. It sounds like it's at 100, and I believe it should be set to 166MHz.

I set it to 166/32 in Bios and my Athlon 2900+ is now running at 1.66MHz. I think I could even set it at 200/32 and be where I should be. I'm going to leave it where it is now and watch it. Thank you.

Your BIOS doesn't have an optimized setting from the factory?
