I have just been advised to put on an administrator account, to stop my son downloading form the net and to stop him screwing up my machine. Which I have done, can anybody tell me how to set up internet access on the user account and how to disable the user from downloading files?

    Many thanks Hughie

    First Name:
i dont think you can stop him downloading, MAY BE WRONG, I dont know vista that weell, but in order to use the interent you have to download the files, pictures, these go into your temporary interent files

setting up a user account (NOT administrator), will stop him from installing programs onto the PC and playiong with some of the settings etc

Yes, make your account (which would be administrator) password protected so he can't use it. Create a new user account for your son and make it "Limited" when you create it in User Accounts. XP will require you to create another Admin account before you create a limited, so don't let him use that one. You can password protect the second admin account and remove it from the welcome screen if that's what you use (rather than the Username/Password Login box).
