I'm trying to install Windows XP. I pop in the disk, boot from CD ROM, go thru the part where it scans for stuff until I reach "Press Enter to install Windows XP", then I get the message that says Setup did not find any hard disk drives.

    I have a HP Pavilion zd7000

Welcome to TSG. Is the bios detecting the harddrive?

    No, it isn't.

Edit: I've had Windows XP installed on this laptop before. I'm used to turning off the laptop by holding the power button. But I've stopped that habit. So after so many times of holding the power button, the laptop finally messed up.

I get this message if I boot it up

So, you've gone into the bios set up and it's not detecting your harddrive?

No, it's not. I have no idea why either.

I believe your harddrive has failed and needs to be replaced.
