I have a Linksys BEFSR41 4-port router. I recently went DSL and I am using a 2Wire modem provided by my ISP (BellSouth). On my prior connection, I used the router to connect directly to the ISP and it doled out IP addresses, forwarded ports, everything I needed. Apparently I now have a modem that acts as a router for multiple connections, but I cannot figure out how or even if I can configure my network the same way it was! I have 3 machines on the network: two XP workstations and a Novell web server/mail server. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I suspect knowing the exact model of the modem would help...

    It is a 2Wire Home Portal 1100.

I looked up your unit, it appears to be an all-in-one modem and router. I see no reason, assuming that it functions as advertised, that you can't configure the network to be like it was with the LinkSys router/modem combination.
