    Good day all,

This is the first time I actually starting a thread. Love the board all! Really excellent source of info.

Anyway, I have a Win98 machine that is constantly loosing it's ability to use the Net, be it the browser, several games, IM, so on. I continuous try to connect to this computer to determine if it is hub/cabling/NIC problem, but am successful with connecting and get responses back from this machine so I don't feel that it is a "connecting to the LAN" problem. It would even be more disconcerning if she didn't contect to anything at all, but that's not the case. It is just intermittent. Brief moments of lost connectivity, but enough to annoy the living daylights out of the user.

    Any idears?

    Thanks a bunch,

I would simply start by reinstalling the nic card , check for driver updates for nic as well. It never hurts to just put a new cable on there . Make sure the nic is securely in slot , I have seen this many times.
