Okay, I have set up my wireless network and it is purring nicely but now I am totally stumped by my newest problem which is our shared printer. The printer is on my desktop and I have gone ahead and set it all up with both computers but you just cannot print from my wife's laptop. I have gone thru the trouble shooter and went as far as pinging each computer from the other. I can ping the desktop from the laptop but not the laptop from the desktop. Any clues here would be GREATLY appreciated.

My first guess would be a firewall on the laptop is blocking access. Turn off Windows XP firewall and uninstall any others to see if this is your problem. Could be affecting the printing also.

We had the same problem (with pings) with two computers here at work. Disabling the Windows XP firewall fixed the problem. I wouldn't recommend going completely without the firewall, but at least disable it long enough to see if it fixes the problem. If it does, a fix can be worked on from there.
