So this morning after i got up i went to turn on my computer. As i press the ON button there's a bang and a flash from inside my tower and my computer is now dead. It won't turn on at all (like absolutely no reaction to the ON button).

What should i do? do i now need to throw away my whole computer and get a new one? can I scavenge some parts from this one? and if so how do i know which parts are damaged and which aren't?

    thanx for your help (y)

You need to have the parts tested. If it is the motherboard there is no way to test the rest of the components. If you have an old system or a friend with a system to test the HDD Graphics card and memory on that would be good.

The power supply blew. That is the only thing that can cause the flash bang experience you have had.

Now whether it took out any other parts with it or not.............you will find out when you change the power supply.

The whole power supply is garbage. Nothing there to save actually.
