I have a Compaq CQ62-225NR Laptop. Yesterday I shut down the computer and threw it in my bag as always. A few hours later I pulled it out and found it had not shut down and overheated giving me a Error Due to Thermal Core Overheat or something like that.

Now I try and boot my computer up, which it does perfectly fine (able to log in etc) up until the HP Health Advisory Dock program tries to load in which the computer just freezes. Before this program loads I am able to access any and all files or programs....

I've ran a Startup Test in which the Memory Test and Smart Check passed, however the Short DST Failed.

It gave me these Failure I.D's and Product I.D's:

    Failure I.D : 9CVXJ8-0005N2-XD003g-60R503

    Product ID: XA500UA#ABA

Now I'm currently trying to contest my "Product Warranty Expiration" considering I should still have another 90 days left on it with HP.....But in the meantime, does anyone have any idea what it could be?

    Thanks to all in advance....

    "Short DST Failed"

DST stands for "Drive Self Test" which means the hard drive is starting to fail.

For confirmation of this, download the drive-makers diagnostic software (the DOS version which is bootable).
The links are at top of this page: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

The download will consist of an ISO file from which you create a CD using Nero if you have it, or IMGBurn from here:
    http://www.imgburn.com/

Boot your laptop from the CD you've made and run the test.
