My QuickLaunch icon, 'Show Desktop', is there but doesn't work. I tried the fix for a missing icon, using notepad to type in recommended code lines, but then clicking the icon just brings up that notepad screen. I recently added TuneUp Utilities 2008, maybe that clobbered the icon?

Still looking for help to speed up my Dell turtle PC. I thought that TuneUp program would help. Not.

    rkroning , Welcome To TSG

    Download "FileExtInfo" - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/utils/fileextinfo.zip

Run It And Select ".SCF" From The List And Generate "File Association Report" .. Copy And Paste The Report Here In Your Next Reply !

Thanks for the information about my ineffective 'Show Desktop' icon. Unfortunately, I'm only semi-computer-literate, and so didn't, and don't, know what to do with this stuff. But here it is, I hope.

Hope you got my 09-April feedback re your first suggestion: I couldn't get it to work, probably my fault. The code displayed when icon clicked, rather than the desktop. I haven't tried option 2 yet, will do so now. rkroning

Couldn't get any place with 'rar', either. Guess I'm too dumb. Have learned that WIN+D will bring up the desktoo, so I'll live with that. Thanks.
