I have seen several people try what you want and they are rather unsuccessful. What you need to know is absolutely everything there is to know about Windows and I mean everything and that is impossible since there is not one person alive that knows that much, If they think they do this is one person you do not want to talk to. I was wondering why you wish to do this task? There are smaller versions of Windows XP because not you can make bootable thumb drives but they are very limited in what you can do with them. I personally do not want to see you trash your computer and that is probably going to be the end result of this venture. I suggest making a backup of all of your important data before continuing with this.
