Doyce,

Thanx for the aumha link I had it once and lost it and it is hard to get to their shutdown page from their main or homepage.

You can always try the trick that Savvy showd me and hold down the "shift key" while you are shutting down now I can tell you that worked for a few days but works here no more.

It is just so dang agavating and time consuming to run down the cause, but I've done it before twice and on two different machines and the link yo just gave here is the best and the easiest to understand the MS articles sux. IMO

HI,
I can sympathize. I've done that list and reformatted and what, but my (WINME) only shuts down by holding the Start Button for a few seconds. (then you get the Improper Shutdown and stuff when you Start again.
So what I do at night is go offline and turn-off my Monitor and let my computer run. (good time to do Downloads). Also Scandisk or Defrag.
Good Luck,

Guess I should'a tried the Shift thing First.
It worked. At least Once and that's better than before!
(now I'll be shutting my computer down all day "to see", hehe.
Thanks DS & Savvy.
